lists and listing (possibly to starboard)
Even to head out tomorrow - still a pleasing fresh wind - has required much thinking about kit and making lists. Even with small writing and much 'Xs 2' or whatever these lists are lengthy. I used to enjoy making lists but the list-lust seems to have left me. A pity to have lost it now when the more lists the better....but the headings are just rather dull.
Food: eh, yeah, well lots, obviously, but not too much either. In fact i'm going around Ireland - there's food all over the place. And as i have boasted - perhaps foolishly - in the past, i'm quite happy for weeks on a bag of oats, some dates and a few tins of tuna. But it's - very roughly - true.
Clothing: Likewise, lots but - um - not too much either. Warm would be good. But not too warm in case it's climatically warm. But with enough changes to be warm after getting cold and wet. And so forth. Oh, and something smart for those occasions - yacht clubs, press interviews, restaurants with friends - that my imagination dots my trips with in anticipation, and which are so, sadly, necessary for any of those imagined reasons.
Lists of lists. Probably the most useful: So need lists on the aforementioned food, and clothing, and safety equipment, and media stuff, and entertainment (short and sweet would be good; a book, a radio and perhaps a length of string) and camping kit.
Off to list the lists i'll need to list.
